one of Sherman's soldiers during March to the Sea. Enlisted as Private
May 10, 1862. Enlisted Co. H, 57th Inf. Reg. May 24, 1862,
deserted in Bridgeport, Tn August 15 1862. Enlisted as a 1st
Lieutenant in Union Army. On 11/7/1862 he was commissioned into "D" Co.
TN 5th Cavalry. He was transferred out on 7/15/1863 and On 7/15/1863 he
transferred into "I" Co. AL 1st Cavalry. He was Mustered Out on 10/20/1865.
