      Hopewell United Methodist Church was established in 1876. The Hopewell school house was used as a place of worship until the present building was erected in 1886.  Families who attended this church were: Youngblood, Anderson, Trapp, Folendore, Harrington,  Ivey, Vinson, Leverett, Simmons, Finney, Lee, Cresap, Bass, Resseau, Ham, Westbrook, Stinson, Proctor, Martin, Mullenix,  Taylor, Brown, Billue, Meeks.  Cemetery (link)
