Allatia C. Westbrook, Mayor of Albany

       Honorable Allatia C. Westbrook was born in Houston County, Ga. March 19, 1842, son of Richard N. and Josephine Coley Westbrook.
    Raised in Houston and Macon Counties he went to live with his uncle Col. W. W. Battle in  Chunnennegge, Alabama when young and received his education. He joined the Confederate army as a private, Company C, First Georgia Volunteers, served 12 months, came home, raised a calvary company and joined the 8th Georgia Calvary as a Captain of Company K. Disabled from a wound he received in battle at Greenbrier, Virginia he took command of the post in Albany, Ga where he served until he surrended in 1865.
     He never married. In 1910 Census, Mr Westbrook is living on his farm on Meriwether and Cobb Place Rd. in the Meriwether community.  A nephew and a hired man are living with him.
